Project Overview
AJ Design Group delivered critical engineering and BIM coordination services for the Royal Children's Hospital expansion project in Melbourne.
The Victorian Government's $56.4 million investment expanded the hospital's capacity through a two-stage development, adding vital inpatient ward and emergency department facilities.
Our team provided comprehensive technical coordination and engineering design to support the delivery of these essential healthcare facilities while the hospital remained fully operational.
Our Role
Healthcare Engineering
Designed and coordinated complex hydraulic and mechanical systems for the new 30-bed inpatient ward on level five. Our engineering solutions met stringent healthcare standards while supporting the hospital's operational requirements and patient care objectives.
BIM Coordination
Utilized advanced BIM modeling to coordinate building services across both expansion stages. Our 3D coordination minimized clashes and ensured seamless integration with existing hospital infrastructure, critical for maintaining continuous operations during construction.
Compliance & Documentation
Delivered comprehensive shop drawings and technical documentation ensuring full compliance with Australian healthcare regulations and NCC requirements. Our detailed as-built documentation supports ongoing facility management and future expansion planning.
